CDBG

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program is flexible and provides communities with resources to address a wide range of unique community development needs. Started in 1974, it is one of the longest continuously run programs at HUD. The CDBG program provides annual grants to over 1,200 local, county, and State entities.

The CDBG Entitlement Program provides annual grants on a formula basis to cities and counties that are entitled to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment and expanding economic opportunities, principally for low—and moderate-income persons.

Some of Bloomfield’s projects include road resurfacing, sidewalk repair, and recreation improvements such as lighting and tot lot equipment. The program has also purchased a senior bus for seniors' transportation.
