    Michael L. Sceurman, CPRP-NRPA

    Director

Michael was born and raised in Bloomfield and starting working for the Recreation Department at the age of 13 as a summer camp counselor.  After graduating from Montclair State University with a BS in Business Administration & Management, Michael was hired full time, as a Recreation Supervisor in 2002.  In 2006 he became the Assistant Director and ultimately promoted to Director in 2011.   He currently oversees all aspects of the Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs Department and manages a full time staff of 7 and over a hundred part time seasonal employees, instructors, coaches and volunteers. 

Favorite part of the job: 

Michael feels fortunate to be able to give back to the community that gave him so much as a child.  He feels proud to provide recreational opportunities to the next generation of Bloomfield residents.

Family Overnight Campout and Movie at Pulaski Park

    Dana Morton

    Recreation Leader Supervisor

Dina came to our community as a Bloomfield College student and started working for the Recreation Department part-time in 2004. She was hired full-time in the Tax and Water Department in 2012 and returned to the Recreation Department in 2014, where she is currently in charge of office duties and the Dial-A-Ride schedule.

Favorite part of the job:

Dina loves talking to our senior citizen population and feels fortunate to be able to assist them with their transportation needs through our Dial A Ride Service.

Favorite event or program: Tumble Tots

Dana was born and raised in Bloomfield and was a stellar student-athlete at both Bloomfield High School and Bloomfield College.  After graduating with a BS in Business Administration & Management Dana worked at Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shields as a Specialist and most recently as a Para Professional and Head Basketball Coach at Bloomfield High School before being hired as a Recreation Leader in October 2018.  She currently serves as the Recreation Leader Supervisor.

Favorite part of the job: 

Dana vividly remembers playing basketball at Clarks Pond South with members of the recreation department staff.  She is eager to give back to the community that help shaped her into the person she is today.

    Neyden Kinch-Sousa

Neyden is a native of Newark, New Jersey, and attended Kean University. After graduating with a degree in Recreation Administration, he came to our community in Spring 2022 where he began working for the Recreation Department. His role Is overseeing Senior Programming.

Joe is a West Caldwell native with a deep passion for sports and community engagement. Joe earned his degree in Sports Management and Economics from Seton Hall University, laying the foundation for his journey in the sports industry. Before taking the reins of Sports Programming, Joe demonstrated his leadership skills at Seton Hall and honed his expertise in the professional realm. His journey includes impactful roles that have shaped him into the dedicated professional he is today. Now, as the orchestrator of sports initiatives in Bloomfield, he is dedicated to creating engaging and inclusive experiences for the local community.

Bringing the community together through sports and other activities
