BLOOMFIELD, NJ -- A man
has been arrested and confessed to burglarizing the same Harrison St. house
three times this year.
The suspect, 53-year-old Daniel
Jones, of Bloomfield, was trespassing on the Harrison Street residence Monday
morning, when an occupant who noticed him walking around the back door called
the police. Bloomfield Police Detectives observed a white male fitting the
description of Mr. Jones moments later, just a few blocks away. After
questioning the suspect on the street, he was issued a summons for Criminal
Trespass and transported to Police headquarters. At headquarters, Police
interrogated him about the three previous burglaries at that same location this
year, and he confessed to each incident.
“We suspected Mr. Jones of the
previous burglaries, in June, October, and earlier this month, where he stole
several thousand dollars in cash. Our investigations gave us enough evidence to
get a confession upon his arrest for trespassing yesterday. This is a reminder
for residents, that when you see something, say something, because that is how
we solve, and deter crimes, together," said Director of Public Safety
Samuel DeMaio. “When residents report seeing crimes or suspicious activity,
it helps our Police officers to do their job and keep our community safe.”
Jones was charged with three counts
of Burglary, Theft & Criminal Trespass and one charge for Possession of
CDS. He was transported to the Essex County Correctional Facility.
