BLOOMFIELD, NJ -- Mayor Michael Venezia has ordered all municipal offices closed on Friday, June 19 in observation of Juneteenth. Juneteenth is a holiday that commemorates the end of slavery.
“It is a crucial step for our township to take to acknowledge this important day in American history,” said Mayor Michael Venezia. “We would like to use this day to reflect on the past and consider what we can do to make our society more fair and just for all people. My administration along with the Town Council is constantly looking for ways to make our community a more inclusive environment and has maintained an open dialogue with residents about issues regarding race.”
