BLOOMFIELD, NJ -- In the wake of national protests following the tragic death of George Floyd, Mayor Michael Venezia and Councilwoman Dr. Wartyna Davis will host a community meeting on police and race this Wednesday at 7:00pm. This will be the first in a series of community conversations on the subject of race and it follows the virtual vigil that was held in honor of George Floyd on May 30.
“As a community, it is important that we have thoughtful conversations about race and policing so that we can learn how to better serve our communities of color,” said Mayor Michael Venezia. “It is imperative that all residents feel safe and believe that they will be treated fairly by law enforcement. In Bloomfield, I am proud of the steps we have taken to decrease the possibility of police violence by adopting seven of the eight policies outlined in the 8 Can’t Wait Campaign.”
