Bloomfield Cancels Thursday Census Event and Zoning Board Meeting as Precaution Against the Spread of the Covid-19/Coronavirus
Residents should remember not to panic as there are no cases in Essex County or Bloomfield at this time
BLOOMFIELD, NJ -- The Township of Bloomfield has cancelled the Thursday Census Kickoff Event in addition to the Zoning Board meeting as a precaution against the spread of the Covid-19 Coronavirus. The CDC is recommending social distancing as one strategy to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 Coronavirus meaning that large events could represent a threat to the health of residents.
“Our administration is taking the threat of the Coronavirus very seriously and we will do everything in our power to keep residents safe and informed,” said Mayor Michael Venezia. “We will continue to monitor the situation and will cancel other township events should we deem that to be necessary. The CDC has said that the groups most vulnerable to the virus are people over 60 years old and people with underlying health conditions, which is why we have already taken the step of cancelling all senior citizen activities.”
Should any additional events be cancelled, the township will inform residents as quickly as possible via the township website and Facebook page. Rescheduling of cancelled events will be determined at a later date.
