[ARCHIVED] Bloomfield’s Online Street Sign Auction Continues Monday

2nd auction flyer

BLOOMFIELD, NJ -- The Township of Bloomfield is holding another online street sign auction next week to allow residents to own small pieces of Bloomfield’s history. The Township replaced all street signs in town over the past year, and rather than throw away the old signs, wanted to make sure residents interested in Bloomfield history could claim signs of their choosing.

The Township is continuing a sign auction which was held in December and saw approximately 800 signs from Bloomfield’s recent past sold to happy owners. There are approximately 400 more signs available, which will be available from 9:00am March 2 until 9:00am March 11. Bids for all signs begin at $10. Register now at

The auction is taking place with resources from the Mayor’s Office, Department of Public Works and Parks Recreation & Cultural Affairs. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Township of Bloomfield.

“As someone who grew up in Bloomfield, I understand residents wanting to own the signs of streets they or friends of their grew up on. Giving residents the opportunity to own a piece of Bloomfield history while additionally generating revenue for our town is a win-win for everyone,” said Mayor Michael Venezia. “This entire auction, and the first one in December, was organized by Township employees, which allowed us to keep costs down, so I would like to thank everyone who took part in the planning and operating of this online sale.”

Winners will need to show proof of payment/bid via a printed paper receipt or email confirmation on their mobile device at the time of pickup. Pick up dates are Thursday, March 26 from 5:00-8:00pm and Friday, March 27 from 1:00-7:00pm in the Civic Center, located at 84 Broad St. For questions about the auction and regarding shipping, residents are invited to contact Diana Aviles at her email address.
