BLOOMFIELD, NJ -- Money Magazine recently
published it’s “8 Best Places to Retire in the U.S. Right Now” and named
Bloomfield the Best place for Sports Fans to retire in. A number of factors
went into their methodology, including the economic health, cost of living,
health care, crime, diversity, and quality of living. Researchers explored the
neighborhoods of considered areas, and intangible factors, which Bloomfield
residents know this town has in abundance.
The Money article cited Bloomfield’s parks and
recreation facilities, proximity to major media markets, and the 14 Major
league sports teams within 30 miles.
“Having grown up in Bloomfield I know that our town has
always been a great place to live, and is only becoming more desirable to people
of all demographics,” said Mayor Michael Venezia. “Our Downtown
redevelopment has introduced more great businesses and improved transportation
to residents. Since restructuring our Police Department three years ago, we
have seen a consistent decrease in all major crimes. And, of course, our
dedicated Departments of Public Works and Parks and Recreation staffs work year
round to keep our parks and recreation facilities top notch. All of these are
clear reasons why our community would be appealing to people of all ages, but
especially active seniors.”
“Bloomfield has had unprecedented redevelopment in all
parts of the Township. We have eight development projects at various stages
currently in discussions. It’s well know that real estate is being bought and
sold quickly. Sellers are getting excellent prices while the town remains an
affordable community,” said Councilwoman Wartyna Davis. “We have so many
amenities desired by buyers. Our recreation and cultural affairs department is
expanding and providing wonderful opportunities and events. Our community is
engaged and this engagement has steadily increased over the past few years. And
also important to buyers, Moody’s improved Bloomfield’s bond rating last year—a
sure sign of financial stability and financial management.”
Strong housing market, new housing, a variety of recreational options, ease of access to transit, strong financial management all add up to make Bloomfield noticeable to national publications such as Money Magazine.
