BLOOMFIELD, NJ -- The Township of Bloomfield has taken another important step in becoming more sustainable, recently purchasing and putting into use four new Chevy Bolts. These electric-powered vehicles were purchased with funding from the capital budget and the water utility fund. The cars will be used by construction code officials and water meter personnel. These functions of the township require many stops through the township. Each vehicle has a range of 300 miles, and will be charged at the township’s vehicle charging stations.
Through a partnership with EV Connect, the township purchased and installed six electric charge stations in the municipal parking lot last Summer, and six more will be installed in the coming months. Three of these upcoming stations will be in the municipal parking lot and the remaining three will be installed in Glenwood Garage.
“With so many exciting and time consuming water infrastructure improvement projects taking place in town, our municipal employees needed reliable transportation, and we are proud to make what is both a fiscally and environmentally responsible investment with these electric vehicles,” said Mayor Michael Venezia. “Our charging stations mark a complementary investment in clean energy, and we encourage all members of the public with electric vehicles to charge them right here in Bloomfield.”
