Nine Residents Appointed to the Bloomfield Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs Advisory Committee
BLOOMFIELD, NJ -- At last night’s Bloomfield Township Council meeting, nine residents were appointed members of the Bloomfield Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Advisory Committee. John Marek, Luis Felix, Roy Yokelson, Steve Jenkins, Barbara Francisco, Thomas Gamble, Tracy Hann, Jenica Jesena and Michael Cantalupo will serve on the committee for staggered terms, with Marek, Felix and Yokelson’s terms expiring December 31 2020, Jenkins, Francisco and Gamble’s terms expiring a year later and Hann, Jesena and Cantalupo’s terms expiring December 31, 2022.
“I would like to congratulate our newly appointed members to this committee, which replaces the former Cultural Commission and Recreation Commission, and is part of the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department’s efforts to continue bringing members of the public into all important decisions regarding recreation in Bloomfield,” said Mayor Michael Venezia. “This committee is proof that the township is expanding its programs beyond sports to show our commitment to parks and cultural programming as well. I would like to thank department director Michael Sceurman for his leadership and dedication.”
“We think the new structure of this committee, which will include subcommittees on which nonvoting members can serve, will create enhanced opportunities to draw upon the diverse and vibrant experiences of our residents and allow for more community engagement and input into the many programs and services the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs provides to our residents,” said Councilwoman Jenny Mundell.
