April 10, 2025 - BLOOMFIELD, NJ  – The Township of Bloomfield’s Planning Board voted unanimously to adopt the 2025 Master Plan on Tuesday, April 8th, marking the completion of a two-year process to update the strategic document that will guide the Township’s future growth and development.

Developed through an inclusive and public process, the new Master Plan reflects the input of a broad cross-section of the Bloomfield Community, including public sessions, surveys, stakeholder meetings, and ongoing discussions with local officials and land use professionals. The plan’s approval followed a 26-day public review process, and a public hearing where residents had the opportunity to ask questions and provide final input before the Board’s vote. The Master Plan is a living document that can be amended through the Planning Board to address new information, opportunities, and challenges as they arise.

“This is an exciting moment for Bloomfield,” said Mayor Jenny Mundell. “The 2025 Master Plan reflects our commitment to thoughtful, sustainable growth. I’m incredibly proud of the dedicated team behind this effort and the residents whose engagement and vision have shaped the plan. This plan will help us preserve what makes Bloomfield special, while ensuring we’re ready for the future. We look forward to seeing this vision come to life.”

The 2025 Master Plan outlines key priorities for the Township, including revitalizing commercial areas with enhanced streetscapes, welcoming gateways, and a diverse mix of local businesses. It prioritizes sustainable development, including open space preservation, renewable energy promotion, and improved stormwater infrastructure. The plan also focuses on creating safe, walkable neighborhoods, offering diverse housing options, expanding recreational opportunities, and protecting Bloomfield’s historic character.

“We’re thrilled to officially adopt the 2025 Master Plan,” said Planning Board Chairman Alan Laquaglia. “This plan reflects years of collaboration, expert insights, and community-driven vision. We are proud of what we’ve achieved and are eager to see these recommendations come to fruition, shaping Bloomfield into a vibrant and sustainable community for years to come.”
