BLOOMFIELD, NJ -- An arrest
has been made in the investigation of two separate package thefts. In bothinstances, the suspect stole packages from the victims’ porches, first in
February, and then last week. The total amount of proceeds taken are valued at$825.
Home security footage from the
victims’ residences, and their neighbors’ obtained by the Detective Bureaucaptured the suspect’s appearance. After sending an APB, an East Orange Police
Detective contacted Bloomfield Police Sergeant Chad Smith and identified thesuspect as 51-year-old East Orange resident Ronald Allen.
“With the name and address of our
suspect, Detective Frank Falco and Lieutenant Michael Sisco waited for thesuspect to leave his residence, and then made an arrest on Thursday evening,” said
Director of Public Safety Samuel DeMaio. “When neighboring PoliceDepartments work together we are able to solve more cases, more quickly,
bringing closure to victims and keeping our neighborhoods safe. I would like tothank East Orange Detective Lantiqua for helping us identify the suspect.”
Mr. Allen was charged with two
counts of theft and issued a criminal summons.
