BLOOMFIELD, NJ -- Cycle 8 water bills, which consist primarily of commercial factories and apartments, have been sent out and will be delivered this week. This bill will cover the previous five months, as no bills have been sent since May due to COVID-19. Therefore, the bill may appear higher than the standard monthly billing property owners are accustomed to receiving, since it’s covering a longer time frame.
“As a consequence of COVID-19, water meter readings have not always been made on a monthly basis as is the norm,” said Mayor Venezia. “Certain water bills may look higher than usual but this is simply because it covers a longer period of time than the month long period they typically would. If you still have any concerns you can feel free to reach out to our water department for more information.”
Please note, for any Cycle 8 customers with the new Sensus meter, this will be the first bill to reflect actual Sensus readings. Despite the billing period range denoted on the bill, the amount due will be based on actual consumption dating back to when the new meter was installed.
In certain cases, with earliest installations dating as far back as January, usage can potentially span duration up to 10 months long. Each case may be different, so if you have any questions or concerns regarding your bill, please call the Tax & Water Department at 973-680-4051.
