BLOOMFIELD, NJ -- Following the tragic death of George Floyd, Mayor Michael Venezia has announced a virtual vigil for tonight at 5pm.
The event will be open to the public and the Mayor will be joined by the Town Council as well as community faith leaders. The meeting will additionally be broadcast live on the township Facebook page.
“Tonight’s vigil is about bringing the community together so that we can begin to heal following this horrible tragedy,” said Mayor Michael Venezia. “We are strongest when we stand together united as one in solidarity. This is a time for us to demand justice and pray for peace in our country.”
“Now more than ever, it is critical that we come together as a community to chart a path toward equity and justice,” said Councilwoman Dr. Wartyna Davis. “Thank you to Mayor Venezia for quickly putting this together and for our community faith leaders and the Town Council for taking part in this. Anyone in our township that would like to join us for this vigil should join us at 5pm.”
