Did You Receive a Request for a Lead and Copper Sample?

If you recently received a letter or a plastic bottle from the Bloomfield Water Department requesting a lead and copper sample, please consider providing the sample if you haven’t already.

We are required by Federal EPA regulations to collect at least 60 samples every six months from selected locations like yours to monitor lead and copper levels. Bloomfield has consistently met these requirements and maintained levels well below EPA limits.

Your help is essential to maintain this compliance. Submitting a sample not only supports public monitoring, but also gives you specific information about your home's water quality. Results are provided in about a month—free of charge.

If you already have a bottle, please follow the instructions on it. If you received only a letter, contact the Engineering Department at 973-680-4009 or engineering@bloomfieldtwpnj.com to request a bottle. Bottles can also be dropped off to you by request and picked up by the Township to make it easier. Samples must be taken by June 30 to be eligible.

Thank you for helping ensure Bloomfield’s water remains safe and high quality.
