1. What is the Police Department address and how do I
get there?
The Police Department is located in the Law Enforcement
Building
1 Municipal Plaza
Bloomfield, NJ
From Garden State Parkway North:
Take exit 148 (Bloomfield Ave).After paying
toll continue straight ahead to the second traffic light. Make a left
onto Franklin St. Proceed to 2nd traffic light and make a left onto Municipal
Plaza. Law Enforcement Building is the first building on the left
From Garden State Parkway South:
Take exit 148 (Bloomfield Ave.) At the end of the exit, stop at the stop
sign. Immediately thereafter make a right at first light onto Montgomery
St. which turns into onto Municipal Pl. The Law Enforcement Building is
on the corner of Franklin St. and Municipal Plaza.
2. Is school closed or open today?
Cable channel 35 has up-to-date school closure information.
3. Do you have a phone number for the Bloomfield
Public Library, Board of Education, Board of Recreation, Civic Center
or the US Post Office? These phone numbers must be dialed directly

4. If I need to ask a Police related non-emergency
question, who do I call?
Call the Police Department non-emergency number: 973-680-4141. If I need
directions, permission-to-park, or get a police release for a towed vehicle,
who do I call:
Call the Police Desk: 973-680-4100
For driving directions TO locations in Bloomfield, call the Police Information
desk.
Any directions need FROM Bloomfield locations to remote destinations call
the Police in the town of your destination and tell them you are coming
from near Garden State Parkway exit # 151, # 148, # 15 0, or # 15 3.
5. How do I notify the Bloomfield Police Department
when I will be on vacation, and that I'd like a periodic check of my residence?
You can call the Police Desk to report your absence from your residence/business
and ask to have a vacant house card made out. See vacant house card information

9-1-1 Use this number

calls only. These calls cannot be transferred to non emergency numbers.
9-1-1 is not intended to be used as directory assistance. If you think
it is an emergency, and it turns out to be a non-emergency, the 9-1-1
operator will advise you to redial using the non-emergency number.

6. How do I pick up a police report?
The Record Bureau hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
In person:
To pick up a police report, respond to the Law Enforcement Building, 1
Municipal Plaza
Bloomfield, NJ 07003
You must fill out a request form with the following information:
1) Type of incident (theft, harassment, domestic dispute, lost or stolen
property) or accident
2) Date of occurrence
3) Location of occurrence 4) Names involved
5) Reason for request
6) Name, signature and date
The charge for this type of report is $2.00
By mail:
Send a stamped self-addressed envelope with the above information, and
a check payable to Bloomfield Police Department in the amount of $5.00.
7. How do I get a parking permit?
Parking permits are issued for selected
streets in Bloomfield. To get a permit, you must come to the record bureau
and provide your car registration for proof of residency. If your registration
hasn't been changed to the new address yet, you can be issued a temporary
permit, which expires after 2 weeks. For information about which streets
require parking permits call 973-680-4105.
