Bloomfield State Health Insurance Assistance Program and Free Benefit Screenings

Bloomfield Human Services now has a State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) counselor. SHIP counselors provide FREE, objective, confidential help to Bloomfield Medicare beneficiaries or soon to be beneficiaries who have problems with, or questions about Medicare, Medigap, Medicare Advantage Plans, Medicare Part D and Long-Term Care insurance.

The Department of Health and Human Services offers benefits screenings to low-income individuals and families to determine if they are eligible to apply for various assistance programs including food stamps, local food pantries, utility assistance programs, and prescription assistance programs. An Affordable Care Act (Obama Care) representative is located in town hall to assist residents with questions and enrollment. Appointments can also be provided for the Mobile County Welfare Van. For home-bound seniors and disabled residents, benefit screenings can be provided in their home. Call 973-680-4017 for an appointment.
