Bloomfield Soccer Freedom Games Sees Nine Champions Crowned, and One Ton of Food Collected

BLOOMFIELD, NJ -- Saturday, Bloomfield Soccer hosted its annual freedom games tournament featuring 54 teams from Essex, Passaic, Union, Hudson, and Morris counties. The nine hour indoor tournament saw 36 teams participate in scrimmages, with each team playing at least two opponents. A total of 54 games were played, with nine champions crowned. The coed tournaments consisted of K-1st grade; 2nd-3rd grade; and 4th-6th grade sections.

The tournament, which took place at the Bloomfield High School gym between 10:00am and 7:00pm, was free for all NJYS and US Club carded teams teams to participate in. Participating teams were asked only to to bring a suggested donation of 24 cans of food to be donated to local food pantries. At the day’s end, an estimated 2,000 pounds--one ton--of food was collected.
