Bloomfield Beautification Committee Leading Foley Field Clean up Saturday

Volunteers Encouraged to Join Saturday Morning at 9:00 AM

BLOOMFIELD, NJ -- The Bloomfield Beautification Committee and volunteers from all over Bloomfield will take part in a cleanup of Foley Field on Saturday, October 7th. Members of the Beautification Committee organized this event, along with the Township of Bloomfield, and will meet promptly at 9:00 AM by the field house, near the southern entrance of Foley Field, otherwise known as Memorial Park. Volunteer crews will be cleaning up Third River near James St., and as much of John F. Kennedy Dr. North as volunteer numbers allow.

“The Beautification Committee exists to ensure Bloomfield’s parks remain among the most beautiful in New Jersey, and getting together on a weekend to clean up is a great way to meet neighbors” said Mayor Michael Venezia, liaison to the Beautification Committee. “I am excited to say that the Beautification Committee has planned a flower planting meet up in the springtime and is partnering with Bloomfield High School to encourage young residents to join or start civic minded clubs to bring positive change to their communities.”

The Beautification Committee, established in 1968, consists of 15 unpaid volunteers appointed by the Mayor and Township Council, as well as an official Township Council liaison. Mayor Venezia, the Council’s liaison, recently reactivated this committee with new members who are actively engaged in beautification projects in the Township. Another park clean up is being organized by the Beautification Committee in the near future. More information about Saturday’s cleanup and future events can be found on the Facebook page “Bloomfield Beautification.”
