Bloomfield Public Library

In the library, ask to use Sirs Periodical Database. Ebscohost is accessible with the input of your Bloomfield Public Library card from the internet. Full test is available on many articles in this way. For articles cited, ask at the Information Desk about Periodicals available at the Bloomfield Public Library. Periodical titles not physically present in the library may be available by searching full-text periodical databases such as EbscoHost or Infotrac (see below). They may also be available online or at other libraries. Holdings in other NJ libraries can be determined by telnet at the New Jersey Union List of Serials (login with njuls) or in the WebPAC version of the NJULS. You can also find periodicals at other local libraries, such as Bloomfield College Library, Montclair Public Library, the Montclair Public Library's Branch library or Montclair State University's Harry A. Sprague Library. Other periodicals, such as New Jersey Newspapers or New York Newspapers, can be found online.

To search EBSCOhost Web (remote access from your home PC). Note: You must be a Bloomfield Public Library cardholder in order to use this service. You will be prompted to enter your Patron ID. This is your BPL library card barcode number, located on the back of your library card.

• MasterFILE Premier: provides full text for over 1,900 periodicals covering nearly all subjects including general reference, business, health, and much more.
• Primary Search: provides full text for 50 children’s magazines and over 100 children’s pamphlets, designed for the elementary school student.
• EBSCO Animals: provides in-depth information on a variety of topics relating to animals. The database consists of indexing, abstracts, and full text records describing the nature and habitat of familiar animals.
• Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia: provides over 25,000 encyclopedic entries. Searchable by subject or keywords within the entry.
• Middle Search Plus: provides full text for over 140 magazines covering general topics appropriate for middle and jr. high school students.
• USP DI Volume II, Advice for the Patient: provides patient-oriented drug information in lay language. Monographs are organized into the following sections: Brand Names commonly used in both the United States and Canada, Description, Before Using This Medicine, Proper Use of This Medicine, Precautions, and Side Effects.
• Health Source Nursing/Academic Edition: provides nearly 590 scholarly full text journals focusing on many medical disciplines. Also featured are abstracts and indexing for over 627 journals. This database is updated on a daily basis.
• Business Source Elite: provides full text for over 1,090 journals covering business, management, economics, finance, banking, accounting, and much more. This database is updated on a daily basis.
• ERIC the Educational Resource Information Center: contains citations and abstracts from over 980 educational and education-related journals, as well as full text of more than 2,200 digests.
• MAS Online: Provides full text for nearly 180 general interest and current events magazines.
• Newspaper Source: provides full text for 245 regional U.S. newspapers, eighteen international newspapers, six newswires, and nine newspaper columns, The Christian Science Monitor, and The Los Angeles Times (for a total of 194 full text newspapers and other sources).
• Health Source - Consumer Edition: provides information on many health topics including the medical sciences, food sciences and nutrition, childcare, sports medicine and general health. Health Source -Consumer Edition features searchable full text for over 190 journals including Consumer Reports on Health and Men’s Health, as well as abstracts and indexing for over 205 general health, nutrition and professional health care publications.

Medline: From the National Library of Medicine, providing free access to Medline.

Full-Text Science Archives (from Stanford University's High Wire Press): Many free full-text articles from scientific, technical, and medical publications that use Stanford as a host site. Categories are life sciences, medicine, physical sciences, and social sciences.
