Director's
Corner
It is with excitement that we bring you our completed “2005 Health Assessment”. This local health needs assessment is the compilation of over a year of work that includes focus group sessions, interviews with key informants, analysis of available health statistics and almost 400 household interviews. The attached document explains the process used and the results of the four individual components. The findings are discussed in detail and summarized in the last two pages. The summary includes 16 major findings and recommendations to address those findings. The findings were prioritized by a steering committee and special task groups will now begin working on the four top priorities (diet and exercise, need for expanded mental health services, preventive testing and service hours). A directory of local services, another component of the needs assessment process, will be available on our website soon. Please feel free to call the Department with any questions or comments you may have.
The Board of Health and Department of Health & Human Services would like to thank all of those whose hard work and willingness to volunteer made this project the success it became.
