Bloomfield Center Redevelopment
A VISION FOR THE FUTURE--BLOOMFIELD COUNCIL LAUNCHES COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT PHASE
**********
It is an exciting time to be a resident of the Township of Bloomfield! Momentum is building throughout the state to revitalize viable town centers. With a plan well underway, Bloomfield is uniquely positioned to capitalize on this momentum and transform its downtown into a booming town center. Building upon past efforts, the Mayor and Council have been collaborating with key stakeholders, property owners and a team of consultants to develop a strategy to transform this potential into reality. Now is the time for us to work together as a community to finalize this vision and move this plan towards the future.
In order to facilitate this effort, the Mayor and Council will be hosting a series of special Council Meetings as part of a broad Community Involvement Plan. The goal of this effort is to make residents, property owners and developers aware of the current status of the plan for Bloomfield Center and to provide the public with the opportunity to actively contribute to the Vision for the Future of Bloomfield Center.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
1. COMMUNITY VISIONING WORKSHOP--OCTOBER 24, 2007 AT 7 P.M.
TOWN HALL, COUNCIL CHAMBERS, 2ND FLOOR
Residents, property owners and developers are invited to come out and participate in a Visioning Workshop that will ultimately shape the future of the plan. The Mayor and Council will present a brief overview of the status of the plan, its goals and next steps. Attendees will then be given the opportunity, through a series of fun, workshop activities, to ask questions and express any concerns while providing the consultant team with critical input that will shape the future of the plan. The intent of this event is to allow residents to provide critical input into the shaping of this plan. Private developers are welcome to attend, however, questions or concerns regarding individual development sites or proposals will be reserved for the second meeting.
2. SHAPING THE DOWNTOWN--NOVEMBER 8, 2007 AT 7 P.M.
BLOOMFIELD PUBLIC LIBRARY, ADULT SECTION, 90 BROAD STREET
The efforts to revitalize the downtown have attracted the interest of many Private Developers and Property Owners. Over the next four weeks, the Mayor and Council would like to meet with all developers and property owners with viable proposals for the downtown that would like to step forward. On November 8, we will present an overview of the proposals that are "on the table." Residents, property owners and developers will then be given an open forum to discuss any specific concerns. This discussion will be kept broad and will not focus on any one specific proposal but rather the broader goal of Shaping the Downtown.
If you are a property owner or private developer with a viable plan for the downtown, the Mayor and Council want to hear from you! If you are interested in having the Mayor and Council review your plan, now is the time! Please contact 973-680-4080 for more information.
