BLOOMFIELD, NJ – To address the concerning statistic that nearly 2 in 3 car seats are installed incorrectly, the Bloomfield Fire Department is partnering with Safe Kids Northern New Jersey to host a free Car Seat Inspection Event for Bloomfield residents. This event will take place on Saturday, September 23, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at the Bloomfield Fire Headquarters located at 375 Franklin Street.
"The safety of our children is of utmost importance to us and we are proud to join forces with Safe Kids Northern New Jersey to offer this vital service to our residents," said Mayor Venezia. "Properly installed car seats can make all the difference in ensuring our children are safe while traveling. I encourage all Bloomfield residents to take advantage of this event to ensure their child's safety."

Incorrectly installed car seats can pose significant dangers to young passengers. To address this critical issue, Bloomfield Township and Safe Kids Northern New Jersey have enlisted the expertise of Nationally Certified Technicians who will be on-site to provide a range of services, including:
- Ensuring your existing car seat is safe and properly installed.
- Offering recommendations on car seats that are best suited for your vehicle and child.
- Providing assistance to those facing financial barriers in accessing a car seat.
- Answering questions and offering guidance about the transition between car seats, booster seats, and regular seat belts.
