BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Township of Bloomfield’s Division of Human Services, in partnership with the National Council of Jewish Women, Essex County Section (NCJW/Essex), is thrilled to announce that registration is open for the annual NCJW/Essex Back 2 School Store, which provides over 1000 eligible children entering kindergarten through 5th grade the opportunity to receive a free backpack full of school supplies, as well as a new outfit and winter coat. This year, Bloomfield has been given the opportunity to register 100 students for the program.
“This is a wonderful program that provides each child with several hundred dollars worth of school supplies and clothes, and I encourage all families to take advantage of this opportunity,” said Paula Peikes, Human Services Director. “In these uncertain economic times it is tremendously generous of the NCJW/Essex to once again offer Bloomfield children the opportunity to participate, and we are extremely grateful for their kindness.”
The NCJW/Essex Back 2 School Store is offered to eligible Bloomfield children entering kindergarten through 5th grade in September 2023. The purpose of the program is to give students the opportunity to start school ready to learn by providing them with school supplies, a brand new school outfit, and a winter coat.
