BLOOMFIELD, NJ — The 1st ever Food Tour presented by the Bloomfield Center Alliance is launching this summer on Saturday, June 22, from 2:00-5:00pm.
This food-filled trek through Bloomfield Center’s business district will include a guided experience with stops for scrumptious samples at 5+ restaurants. The event will provide the opportunity for guests to connect with chefs and owners and feature cuisine ranging from Italian to Jamaican to the American South.
“Bloomfield Center Alliance, under the leadership of Ollyn Lettman, does a great job of organizing events for the whole community, and with the great weather, and participation of so many talented food providers, there’s no reason not to plan your day around our Food Tour this Saturday,” said Mayor Michael Venezia. “On Saturday, a guide will lead the tour along with staff from the Bloomfield Center Alliance to provide information on the history and plans for the area along with expert tips on shopping for goods and services, living, and food in the Center.”
The Food Tour is one of several events highlighting Bloomfield Center this coming summer. Dinner Under the Stars, a popular al fresco dining event that takes place on Washington Street will return for nine Friday’s this summer, as will eight evening Cruise Nights Car Shows which brings classic automobiles and cool tunes to Washington Street.
“The Food Tour of Bloomfield Center will showcase the incredible, multi-ethnic, creative, and walkable food scene here in Bloomfield Center,” says Ollyn Lettman, Director of the Bloomfield Center Alliance. “We have restaurants in the Center that have been open for years like Bloomfield Steak & Seafood and others that just opened this month like Bucco, and we’re excited for people to experience a number of them.”
Several of the restaurants the tour will visit were featured in Pete Genovese’s NJ.Com article describing Bloomfield as one of The 15 best under-the-radar dining destinations in New Jersey like Essex Junction Craft Kitchen & Bar and Aki Asian Cuisine.
Anthony Lauro, Owner of Anthony’s Cheesecake, a local staple for fresh Italian meals with a rotating menu and of course, perfect cheesecake, notes, “Anthony’s has been on Washington Street for nearly 10 years. We’re excited for people in Bloomfield and the area to meet us and see what other gems there are in Bloomfield Center.”
Demian Boroff, Manager of The Wooden Spoon Saloon shared, “We’re excited to let people know about the wide variety of events like Trivia Night we host, our commitment to serving New Jersey craft beer, and of course, our brisket ‘burnt ends!’
