Municipal Park Update
With Governor Murphy initiating the phase 2 reopening plan for New Jersey, the Bloomfield Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs Department has lifted some restrictions to allow expanded use of our municipal park system.
Passive Recreation Areas
Passive recreation is still permissible in municipal parks as long as social distancing is practiced and face coverings are worn.
Active Recreation Areas
Effective immediately, all Bloomfield gyms and fitness facilities are allowed to request a permit to utilize predetermined areas of our parks for outdoor workouts.
Effective June 8, 2020 – 12:00PM all tennis courts will be open to the public, on a 30 day trial period, with safety guidelines and modified playing rules.

All organized sports activities in our municipal parks are still prohibited through Sunday, June 21, 2020.
However, starting Monday, June 22, 2020 non-contact sports may resume outdoor play as long as the guidelines set forth by the NJ Department of Health are followed.
All Bloomfield sports organizations and businesses must submit a permit request for field use.
All Bloomfield organizations must also submit, in writing, the policies and procedures that will be implemented to ensure the guidelines set forth by the NJ Department of Health are followed. Proof of insurance is required.
ALL FIELD USE FOR ACTIVE RECREATION IS BY PERMIT ONLY.
TOT-LOT PLAYGROUNDS AND BASKETBALL COURTS WILL BE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
Park & Field Permit
If you are interested in obtaining a permit to use one of our parks for a special event, you must fill our the application at least one week prior to the event. The application must be filled out completely and submitted to Michael Sceurman, Director of Recreation by email, fax, mail or dropped of in person:

All field use is by permit only. In order to play any organized sport at one of our facilities, you must be recognized by the Bloomfield Recreation Commission and obtain a permit.
